Vedya Info Solutions, an IT consulting services company, Hyderabad. Vedya providing IT consulting services to Global MNC & pioneer in Document Management System(DMS), OpenText Inc. In this case, On behalf of OpenText Inc., Vedya provided Project Program Management consulting services to Adani Group of Companies – Implementation of DMS solutions for their Engineering and content management viz. all types of documents including digital artefacts across organization.
One of the foundational elements is to have central document repository and Multiple document management systems and processes are existing across the Mining BU / departments. The objective of this exercise is to have consolidate the Content Management Process within Mining BU. OpenText proposed to a new DMS platform to support their Engineering Document Management requirements, add a component called xECM for SAP for integration with their current SAP, Contract Administration workflows and Migration of documents from existing system.
The Challenges faced by Existing environment
OpenText xECM for Engineering in general provides a single, authoritative repository for storing and organizing engineering documents. The solution provides engineers and supporting teams with a secure, collaborative web-based environment to create, review, and manage, both completed and work-in-progress engineering documents with contractors and suppliers.
OpenText Extended ECM for Engineering solution helps in efficiently control risk to engineering project scope, schedule, and costs. This enables owner-operators and engineering companies to gain faster returns on investment by speeding time to production and enabling efficient asset operations. Extended ECM for Engineering provides a single, authoritative repository for storing and controlling engineering documents and work processes. The solution helps document control managers, engineers, engineering leaders, external collaborators, and subsequent operations personnel efficiently control engineering information, work processes, and risk across the lifecycle of projects and operations to help accelerate revenue.
OpenText Extended ECM is a solution for inbound-outbound document control in engineering and construction projects. The configuration in scope is to set up the system to manage controlled engineering records and as-built documents of 1 project template. Management of collaborative documents as well as third party integrations is limited to engineering documents. Extended ECM for SAP (xECM for SAP)
Business Objects in SAP integrate with DMS to store the transaction related documents. The integration is done using OpenText xECM for SAP. For ANR (Mining BU), a maximum of 30 standard business objects (no custom objects) were implemented. Since the SAP instance was used by multiple Adani BUs, the transaction documents related to Adani Natural resources in SAP only was replicated to OpenText DMS while still retaining the documents in SAP DMS.
A One-time migration of the existing documents in SAP belonging to Adani Natural resources was also be replicated from SAP to DMS. About 10,00,000 documents were migrated.
Vedya Info Solutions has successfully provided the IT Program & project management consulting services for the execution of this Project at Adani Natural Resources Limited(Mining BU). The solution was implemented as per the agreed timelines and more than 600 users are using the solution, this has minimised their projects execution and monitoring time and huge value proposition in terms of Engineering, Electrical and other projects execution across ANRL.
